WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE STET WEEK?
The STET week is the "Study Introduction Days" and the important starting point to begin your studies. There you'll learn everything important about your schedule, language courses, campus life, and most importantly, you'll get to know many new fellow students. Additionally, in this week, placement tests for different language levels take place. The tutors are available during the STET week to provide assistance, organize everything, and ensure successful party nights in the first week.
| WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FULLSTAWI AND HALBSTAWI? As a Fullstawi, you study your major and minor subjects at the Faculty of Political Science. This includes Legal Science, Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, and Management. If you study one subject at the Faculty of Political Science and your second subject at another faculty, you are a Halbstawi. Fullstawis have almost all events together during the orientation phase, while the course program for Halbstawis varies depending on the minor subject.
| WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FSR & STURA? FSRs (Student Councils) represent the individual faculties, e.g., Faculty of Political Science, Faculty of Philosophy, etc. The FSRs advocate for the interests of the students of their faculties. The StuRa (Student Parliament), on the other hand, represents issues that concern all students of the University of Erfurt across faculties. It serves as a mediator between students and the university's administration.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "O(RIENTATION) PHASE" & "Q(UALIFICATION) PHASE"? The O-phase includes the 1st and 2nd semester. From the 3rd semester onwards, you are in the Q-phase. The grades from the O-phase are not included in the final grade of the bachelor's degree.
| HOW/WHERE DO I VALIDATE MY THOSKA AND WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT?
The Thoska serves as a student ID and you can also use it to pay in the cafeteria, the glass box, and lecture hall 7. You also need it to print on the university printers. Validation devices and devices to top up money are available in the library, the KIZ, and the cafeteria. Outside the university, you can use it for public transportation throughout Thuringia and receive numerous discounts or even free entry. The cultural ticket is particularly recommended! | WHO SHOULD I CONTACT FOR QUESTIONS/HELP? First and foremost, you can always contact the FSR StaWi. We try our best to assist you and advocate for your concerns. If we don't have a solution, we are happy to refer you to the appropriate institution/person.

| WHAT IF I HAVE MORE/LESS THAN 30 LPs IN A SEMESTER? In principle, it is not a problem if you earn fewer than 30 LPs in a semester. The study program is designed so that if you want to complete it in the standard period of study (6 semesters), you should earn 30 credit points per semester (a total of 180 LPs). However, you can also earn fewer than 30 LPs in one semester and then more in another semester. The 30 LPs are just a guideline for you.
| WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR ME TO DO MY INTERNSHIP? You can do your internships throughout your entire studies, and you have a lot of freedom in how you arrange them. Some internship institutions require that you have completed your basic studies, which corresponds to the 3rd semester. If you want to do one or two longer internships (3-6 months), it is also possible to apply for a leave of absence for that purpose.

WHAT DOES "QT" & "MP" MEAN? QT stands for qualified attendance certificate. Seminars or lectures that are only offered and/or attended on QT contribute 3 credit points, the grade does not appear on the report card, and the goal is simply to pass or fail. Usually, a module grade consists of a QT event and an MP event. MP stands for module exam. The examination (exam, presentation, or term paper) is graded and appears on the report card. Often, the module grade consists of both a QT event and an MP event.
| HOW DOES THE TIMETABLE WORK? In the examination regulations, a model study plan is provided, which you can use to navigate yourself regarding the individual modules. The creation of the exact timetable then takes place during the STET week, and you will also be actively supported by your tutors. In principle, in E.L.V.I.S., all events of the current and past semesters are listed, and you can find out about location, time, and instructors. All events for the 1st and 2nd semesters are marked with an O.
| WHAT ARE E.L.V.I.S. AND MOODLE USED FOR? E.L.V.I.S., which stands for Erfurter Lehr-Veranstaltungs-Informations-System, contains everything essential for organizing your studies. You can download your enrollment certificates, view and print your grades, check the current course offerings, find room allocations, and more. Course registration is also done through your E.L.V.I.S. account. Moodle is a learning platform where instructors provide materials to students. These materials may include texts, slides, or other supplementary information. Most Moodle courses are password-protected, with passwords typically provided at the beginning of lectures. Instructors who do not use Moodle usually upload their materials password-protected on their university homepage.
