After the pandemic, there will finally be a ceremony again to honor the graduating students in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, providing them the opportunity and the setting to toast their achievements and celebrate them.

To sweeten the Christmas season and possibly meet new people, the FSR StaWi offers the annual StaWi Secret Santa. Pairs are randomly matched to exchange small gifts according to a specific theme.

Mulled Wine Reception
In recent years, we have kicked off the Christmas season with mulled wine, punch, and gingerbread. At a cozy evening in Hilge, students from all faculties come together, and last winter, even some professors and staff joined in.
Mulled Wine Market
At the Mulled Wine Market, we, along with other FSRs and university groups, bring a festive atmosphere to the campus, with hot caipirinhas and tarot card readings, for example. There’s also music, treats, and the opportunity to chat over a mulled wine.
Panel Discussion "Is Germany's federalism Still Up to the Challenges of the 21st Century?"
On April 29, 2024, the FSR StaWi, in cooperation with the Faculty of Political Science, hosted a panel discussion on the challenges of German federalism. The panel included Prof. Dr. Thomas de Maizière (former Federal Minister), Prof. Dr. Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff (Thuringian State Minister), and Laura Wahl (Member of the State Parliament) and was moderated by Prof. André Brodocz.
The discussion focused on existing inefficiencies in the federal system, lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, abstract reform proposals, and the necessity of more efficient federalism to address the green transformation and the changing conditions through advancing digitalization for administrative federalism.
The successful event concluded with a champagne reception. We thank everyone for the great interest.
Introduction to International Relations
At the beginning of each winter semester, the FSR StaWi organizes an information event for first-year IR students to provide details about the course of IR studies at the University of Erfurt, as well as about possible internships, study abroad, and more. IR professors S. Hoffmann and O. Kessler and alumna J. Miksch accompanied the event on November 15, 2024. It was moderated by Mette Schacht and Nicolás Heck.
Panel Discussion "The Arctic - An Increasingly Geopolitical Region?"
In cooperation with the International Security Policy Group at Erfurt, Dr. Humrich (Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen) and Dr. Paul (Senior Fellow at SWP) discussed the consequences of climate change on potential economic and security developments in the Arctic on January 15, 2024. The event was moderated by Max Steinmann.
Diskussionsrunde ,,Turn of an era for the Islamic Republic of Iran?" (19.06.23)
Together with Erfurt's PhD student Ms. Devendra, on the 19th of June 2024, we analyzed Iran's current societal and political situation, as well as activities, strategic affiliates and importance in the Middle East. The event started off with an input prepared by students of the FSR Stawi and continued as a discussion between Ms. Devendra and the participating students. It was moderated by Mette Schacht.
